How to Get Involved - StudentsAt the Local Level You can work on a project individually, or collaborate with a partner. If you're more science- than arts-oriented, team up with an arty partner and collaborate on a project. If you love the arts but need a science-minded collaborator, find a lab rat teammate and get cracking! For project ideas check out websites, magazines and environmental organizations, or talk to your teacher to find out what the issues are and how you can develop a project. YSF and VIA Rail are working to ensure that all science and arts teachers at Canadian schools know about the EE Special Awards and the EI division at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. If you’re not sure how to enter a project in the science fair, talk to your teacher. Regional fairs will also have the information you need to get started. YSF’s student mentorship program, SMARTS, has recruited two youth experts who are available to answer your EE Special Award and EI division questions online. If you don’t want to enter a project but still want to get involved, volunteer! Regional fairs are always looking for volunteers to help them organize and deliver a great fair. Find contact information for your regional committee through the YSF website. At the National Level Check out the eligibility criteria or talk to your teachers or regional fair to find out if your project qualifies for the EI division at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. Winning projects at each level get a $10,000 scholarship in addition to the normal divisional cash prizes, so there are lots of reasons to enter! |
