March is Youth Science Month in Canada

Serious! Fun!

While science is serious stuff, doing science can be great fun!

Every year, over 500,000 young Canadians participate in project-based science - as many as play minor hockey. And during March, Youth Science Month, thousands will be showing their work, and competing to earn a spot at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, in May, hosted this year in Peterborough, Ontario.

Proclaimed by Youth Science Canada, Youth Science Month is supported by a host of Premiers, provincial Ministers, MLA's, Mayors and other community leaders.

Science is a game of the young. The fundamental insights that transform scientific practice germinate in youth.

There is no second chance to be young; to see the world through the fearless, curious eyes of youth. And there are no second chances for young Canadians to have no fear of mathematics; to eagerly peer through the lens of a microscope and ask challenging questions neither their parents nor teachers can easily answer. Supporting and nurturing the scientific impulse is essential for the good of our future; for the economic health of our country.

Thanks to the commitment and generosity of sponsors, volunteers, teachers, parents and scientists, Youth Science Canada continues to help Canadian youth have serious fun doing science. Youth Science Canada is grateful to the Province of Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation for its generous support of Youth Science Month in Ontario.
