SCHOOL CORRESPONDENT NETWORK
The School Correspondent Network connects students and schools across Canada, and acts as a free flow of information on STEM opportunities to and between schools. The goal of the network is to provide students and schools with information on how to get involved with STEM opportunities in their region and across Canada.
How does it work?
Each school selects a student "school correspondent", who represents the school within the network. We make use of students as school correspondents because we believe in empowering young people and making them leaders in the movement for youth and science. Correspondents receive emails on upcoming STEM programs, competitions and events that are available to his or her school. The student shares this information with teachers and peers by making announcements, posting information and posters on bulletin boards, delivering presentations, etc.
Is there a cost to join?
Nope! Since SMARTS is a volunteer-based program for youth by youth, all our initiatives are provided free of charge.
What schools are allowed to join?
The School Correspondent Network is meant for students in Grades 7 through 12. This means that any Canadian elementary, junior high, or secondary school is able to join.
How does my school join the School Correspondent Network?
Simple! Each school is asked to select one student correspondent for the network. Just have that student sign up here and your school will be added to the network instantly.
